The PBA Senior Tour will open its 32nd season with two events in Florida in late April and early May of 2012. The nine-event season will also make stops in North Carolina, Ohio, Nevada, California, Indiana and Illinois.
Major Championships
The Senior Tour's two majors, the Senior U.S. Open and USBC Senior Masters, will both be held in Las Vegas. The Senior U.S. Open will be held June 3-8 at Suncoast Bowling Center and the USBC Senior Masters will take place June 10-15 at South Point Bowling Center, the site of the 2011 PBA World Series of Bowling.
Four Potential Storylines to Watch
- Ron Mohr. Can 2011 PBA Senior Player of the Year Ron Mohr come anywhere close to his incredible 2011 season? Last year, Mohr won four titles and finished within the top four of every tournament except two (and one of those was because he didn't participate). For a complete recap of Mohr's 2011 season, see this article. Since it was one of the best seasons in PBA Senior Tour history, it will be tough for anyone to even approach. Can Mohr do it again?
- Walter Ray Williams, Jr. After winning the 2010 PBA Player of the Year Award, Williams took to the Senior Tour for the first time, winning the PBA Senior Rookie of the Year Award but finishing behind Wayne Webb for the Senior Player of the Year Award. In 2011, Williams had another good season, but nothing close to that of Mohr. After his struggles on the PBA Tour these past couple seasons, can Williams bounce back and take over the Senior Tour?
- Wayne Webb. The feel-good story of 2010 was Wayne Webb, coming from almost out of nowhere to reclaim his former PBA tour glory, dominate the Senior Tour and win the Senior Player of the Year Award. Last year, his schedule was limited due to injury, but he performed well when he was able to compete. Can he stay healthy and challenge Mohr, Williams and the rest of the Tour for the top spot?
- Incoming rookies. The two biggest names now eligible to compete on the Senior Tour are Mike Edwards and PBA Hall of Famer Amleto Monacelli. Will either of these men be able to use the youth advantage to gain an edge over the competition?
The PBA Senior Tour is always full of excitement and interesting stories, and we're almost guaranteed a compelling storyline not mentioned above will emerge. That's part of the fun of the PBA Senior Tour.
